Summary

Today, Shane was joined by Orlando Magic broadcaster David Steele.

Steele is the former voice for Florida Gators Football and Florida Gators Men’s Basketball, and we welcome him with open arms, despite his degree from the University of Georgia. He has been the play-by-play man for the Magic since 1989 and was inducted into the Magic Hall of Fame in 2019.

And, like every Thursday, our #CollegeFootball analyst Brent Beaird joins the program on the first half for our #ThursdayRoundUp

David Steele’s Bio

Steele has been the play-by-play man for the Magic since 1989 and was inducted into the Magic Hall of Fame in 2019.

After growing up in East Tennessee, the University of Georgia alum started his broadcasting career in Panama City. While playing baseball for the Bulldogs, Steele realized that his future lay not in the clay infield but in the radio booth and found his way to the journalism school. He started calling spring games, then JV games, before graduating and moving to Panama City.

A stop in Asheville, North Carolina came before he became the football and basketball play-by-play guy for the Florida Gators in 1983. After 6 years in Gainesville, Steele hooked on with the Magic, a job he’s held for over 30 years.
